WE KNOW QUALITY...

For our founder Jimmey, quality wasn’t a slogan; it was a standard.

He believed the smallest details define the whole: the finish of an edge, the weight of the hardware, the feel of the leather in your hands. Nothing was ever too small to matter.

That philosophy lives on in every LAND piece.

Thoughtfully designed and meticulously handcrafted, our leather goods are made to be carried daily, cherished for years, and to grow more beautiful with time.

Because real quality doesn’t fade. It endures.

Our Leather

From the very beginning, we believed leather should feel alive in your hands.

The majority of our hides are full-grain, vegetable-tanned leathers sourced from the Andes Mountains of Colombia — a region whose climate and altitude produce hides with remarkable density, strength, and character. Jimmey often said you could feel the difference before you ever saw it.

These hides are naturally thicker, richer in body, and typically marked by fewer insect bites than many other natural leathers. They are not corrected to hide their story. They are selected for it.

While select collections may still incorporate top-grain, chrome-tanned leathers, our vision — one we continue to pursue — is a full commitment to 100% vegetable-tanned leather. It is slower. It is more traditional. And it is exactly how Jimmey believed leather should be treated.

Full-grain leather is the strongest and most honest part of the hide. It doesn’t wear out — it wears in. Over time, it develops a deep patina shaped by your hands, your travels, your life. With proper care, it becomes more beautiful with every passing year.

Colombia, once referred to as “Little Italy” for its rich leather tradition, has long been known for producing premium hides with stunning color and unmistakable feel. Jimmey was proud to build LAND around that heritage — honoring Colombian craftsmanship while creating goods meant to travel the world.

Responsible Sourcing

If you’re going to work with leather, you must respect it. We use only hides that are a by-product of the cattle industry. No animal is ever raised or harvested solely for its hide. The raw materials we source are what remain after food production — resources that would otherwise be discarded.

To Jimmey, this mattered. He often reminded us that craftsmanship is not only about beauty — it’s about responsibility. Each hide is individually inspected before cutting. We study it. We understand it. We position patterns carefully to maximize yield and minimize waste. Scrap leather is repurposed into smaller goods whenever possible, allowing us to honor every inch of material entrusted to us.

Respect for the hide. Respect for the craft. Respect for the customer.

The Beauty of Imperfection

For nearly 50 years, our belief has never changed: leather should look like leather. We refuse to strip away the natural character of a hide just to make it appear “perfect.” We see beauty in the small scars, subtle scratches, and occasional insect bites that occurred while the animal grazed freely. Those marks are not flaws. They are reminders that the material once lived. Every LAND piece carries a history before it ever becomes yours. And once it does, your story continues where that one left off.

No two hides are identical. No two journeys are either - and that's the point.

Our Hardware

We believe hardware should never be an afterthought. A buckle, zipper pull, or clasp isn’t just a functional detail — it's a structural promise. If the leather was built to last, the hardware had to be worthy of it.

We use solid brass and high-strength zamac hardware across our collections. Our solid brass components are crafted in our very own foundry — a practice that allows us to control quality from molten metal to finished piece.

True to our commitment to sustainability and respect for materials, many of these brass components begin as recycled and spare metals. They are melted in a high-heat furnace, then carefully hand-poured into sand-cast molds by skilled artisans. Once cooled, each piece moves to finishing, where rough edges are ground away and surfaces are hand-polished until they achieve their final form.

It is a demanding process — hot, physical, and time-intensive. But it is the right way. The result is hardware with real substance. Real weight and real longevity. Not plated shortcuts with hollow imitations.

But buckles, clasps, and fittings designed to endure decades of use — developing their own character alongside the leather they support.

Mapa Mundi™ Lining

Water proof. Tear proof. Life proof.

There is nothing accidental about what’s inside a LAND piece.

Our signature Mapa Mundi™ lining was inspired by the Old World maps that once charted unknown territories — a quiet tribute to exploration, heritage, and the journeys still ahead. Jimmey believed the inside of a leather good should be just as intentional as the outside. If someone opened their bag, he wanted them to discover something unexpected.

Something worth talking about.

Unique to LAND, our Mapa Mundi™ lining is lightweight yet remarkably durable. It is both tear-resistant and waterproof — designed not only to look beautiful, but to perform beautifully.

Coffee spills inside your backpack? A makeup mishap in your handbag? Life happens. The waterproof interior makes cleanup simple, protecting the leather exterior while preserving the elegance within.

To us, craftsmanship doesn’t stop at the surface. The inside matters. The hidden details matter.

Because the best leather goods don’t just carry your essentials.

They carry your story — inside and out.

The Hands Behind Every Piece

Jimmey used to say, “Leather is only as good as the hands that shape it.”

Behind every LAND piece is a craftsman or craftswoman who has spent years — often decades — refining their skill. Many learned the trade from a parent or grandparent. For them, leatherwork is not simply a job. It's a craft passed down through generations.

We are proud to work alongside artisans in Colombia who approach every piece with patience, precision, and pride. Much of the work is done by hand — cutting, edge-finishing, stitching, burnishing; because tradition lives in hands, not in machinery.

Every stitch is placed with intention. Every edge is finished with care. Every detail is inspected with experienced eyes.

Jimmey believed deeply in honoring the people behind the product. That belief continues today through the relationships our family still personally maintains with the factories and craftsmen and women who help bring our premium goods to life. These are partnerships built on trust, loyalty, and shared standards; not transactions.

We are committed to ensuring fair working conditions, ethical practices, and environments where craftsmanship is respected and not rushed.

Integrity matters. The way something is made matters. The way people are treated matters.

When you carry a LAND piece, you carry more than leather. You carry the time, the discipline, and the quiet pride of the hands that made it.

It’s a responsibility we inherited and one we’re committed to honoring for the next generation.
